Glasgow
Some of our favourite spots, for those making the trip up. We've many more on a Google Maps saved list too.
Staying
Stay in the city centre if you want to walk to and from Civic House, but taxis are easy and cheap from anywhere in Glasgow. The West End and Finnieston are also great areas with plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance.
Coffee
- Short Long Black
No-nonsense specialty coffee on Victoria Road on the Southside, with locally roasted beans and excellent bakes.
- Kaf Coffee
Great coffee in Partick and in Bearsden.
- Amulet Coffee
Lovely coffee shop, and the owner's wife runs a florist, where Becca got her wedding day flowers from.
- Outlier
Coffee, brunch sandwiches, down near Glasgow Green.
- Dear Green
Glasgow's beloved roastery in the East End, named after the city's Gaelic meaning. Visit the showroom for beans or book a roastery tour.
- Zennor
Trendy, minimal coffee shop and roastery down in the Southside.
Eating
- Ox & Finch
Small plates, nice vibe - we went here for Becca's graduation meal.
- Gloriosa
A restaurant and bar serving vibrant Mediterranean influenced food - also frequented by Dualipa.
- Paesano
One of our favourite restaurants ever - we first went not long after it opened back in 2015.
- Mother India's Cafe
A Glasgow icon - Rory used to live next door and we went regularly.
- Ka Pao
Southeast Asian small plates from the same people that run Ox & Finch.
- Sugo
Handmade pasta from the same people that run Paesano.
Making a trip of it
If you're extending beyond the weekend, Scotland has plenty to offer within easy reach of Glasgow.
- Inver
Absolutely top tier restaurant with rooms - it's a good 1.5 hour drive from Glasgow, but we could not recommend enough.
- Ben A'an
One of the best hikes you can do near Glasgow. It's not that big a hill, but it's steep and has amazing views. If you're cycling, this area is also great. The Duke's Pass, which is nearby, is listed in the UK's top 100 climbs.
- Conic Hill & Loch Lomond
A short, sharp hike on the West Highland Way near Balmaha, under an hour from Glasgow.
